Supervisory Veterans Service Representative

Analyzes and interprets laws, regulations, and rules as they affect the establishment of new policies, procedures, and methods of operation. Supervises the overall operation of the Team and recommends ways of improving Team efficiency. Coordinates staff allocation through division level management (e.g. AVSCM and/or VSCM). Makes day-to-day adjustments of work priorities and assignments in accordance with established priorities. Monitors and evaluates the quality and timeliness of service provided by the Team (individual performance and Team performance). Conducts systematic analyses of operations in order to identify problems and recommend corrective action, assess areas of vulnerability, improve efficiency and economy of operations, and evaluates in compliance with established procedures. Provides technical assistance with problem cases and, in extremely complex or delicate situations, may handle the case from beginning to end. Resolves employee complaints or grievances, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary. Counsels employees regarding disciplinary matters (e.g. provides warnings and written counseling). Evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations concerning career ladder promotions, awards, and other types of recognition. Responsible for validating time and leave records, approval/disapproval of leave and preparation of vacation schedules. Serves on various VSC and station level committees, represents the VSC on various committees, meetings and/or conferences. Specialized
Experience:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-12) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves:
(1) Technical assignments that are related to claims or benefits processing or eligibility determinations (2) Experience in the development, examination, investigation, adjudication of claims for disability compensation, disability pension, death compensation, death pension benefits is qualifying (3) Experience in examining and interpreting laws, regulations, or other directives and determining their applicability to a specific case as they pertain to veterans' benefits (4) Experience training/mentoring team members in adjudicating claims for benefits.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
