Security Assistant

This is a Non-Bargaining position. The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Initiating and managing the use of the Electronic Questionnaire for Investigations Processing (eQIP) for Title 38,Hybrid Title 38, and Title 5 employees and new hires. Reviewing, releasing, and tracking electronic investigations sent to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Reviewing suitability information by reviewing application documents. Maintaining tracking system for employment background investigations. Processing fingerprints utilizing electronic fingerprinting system. Verifying information in the Personnel Investigation Processing System (PIPS). Issuing Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards to current and new employees, contractors, affiliates, and volunteers. Reviewing position sensitivity for all positions to determine the appropriate background investigation required. Using HR Smart to review SF-52, Request for Personnel Actions, to determine if changes are required to background investigation and to enter data into the tracking section. Inputting background investigation adjudication dates into HR Smart. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 grade level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Experience:
Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
- Initiating and reviewing employment background investigations in an electronic security program. - Determining suitability for applicants. - Reviewing and processing employment background security documents. - Obtaining fingerprints using electronic fingerprint equipment. - Issuing personal identity verification cards. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
