Administrative Support Assistant (OA)

Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercises discretion when accessing critical and confidential materials. Uses initiative to insure tasks are performed in a timely manner using guidelines and completed within deadlines. Provides administrative support and contact source for both the clinical laboratory and level 3 laboratory at the Waco site. Performs training support duties such as the coordination, scheduling and acquisition of training as well as the maintenance of training records and files for the Waco site. Serves as the primary timekeeper ensuring leave requests are entered and approved and that timecards are certified by deadline. Coordinates and serves as liaison for various committees. Collaborates with the PLMS Administrative Officer regarding Human Resources requirements for Waco PLMS staff. Acts as liaison for the Service between other services, physicians, nurses, administrative staff, patients and their families and other entities outside the CTVHCS. This includes other VA's and hospitals and offices of physicians in private practice. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of rules, procedures, business practices, and techniques involved in carrying out the work of the organization; and utilization of automated data systems to prepare correspondence, training material, track information, and present information in oral and narrative formats. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
